2010 State of the Birds Report Highlights Need for Action in Hawaii
In March the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service released the new 2010 State of the Birds Report summarizing bird status in the United States, with a focus on global climate change. The report highlights two high vulnerability biome areas of critical interest to the Pacific Coast Joint Venture and its Hawaiian partners: the Ocean & the Hawaiian Islands.

Landscape Conservation Cooperatives and the Pacific Islands Climate Change Cooperative
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has initiated the development of Landscape Conservation Cooperatives (LCCs)—public-private partnerships for addressing landscape scale stresses on natural resources. The first LCC to be established is the Pacific Islands Climate Change Cooperative (PICCC). PICCC will provide a range of scientific and technical tools to help managers in Hawaii and the Pacific Islands make conservation decisions.
