Columbia Land Trust adds a major wetlands jewel to the land under its stewardship
Columbia Land Trust has just completed the acquisition of nearly 1,000 acres of wetlands and forest along the Columbia River just west of St. Helens—its largest single acquisition. The trust looks forward to restoring it with the help of project partners Bonneville Power Administration and the Army Corps of Engineers.

Public meetings for Oregon Territorial Sea planning process
Oregon is now entering the second phase of a process to amend its Territorial Sea Plan that will locate areas where renewable energy development may be sited within Oregon's Territorial waters. Visit the website for dates and locations of public meetings in February and March.

Oregon Department of State Lands: Eight local wetland inventories approved in 2011
Over the past year, DSL wetlands staff approved eight LWIs, including Arch Cape, Deschutes County (southern area), Gearhart, Harrisburg, Junction City, Mill City, Monroe and Scio.

Oregon is home to 14 species of owls, including five listed in the Oregon Conservation Strategy as species in need of conservation help. Learn more from this detailed fact sheet.

Marine conservation advocates are premiering a new film, Ocean Frontiers, with a February 11 kickoff event with Governor Kitzhaber in Port Orford; the film inlcudes a segment highlighting the Port Orford community's ocean stewardship efforts.
