WDFW provides toll-free number to report derelict fishing gear
Boaters, divers and others who encounter derelict fishing gear in Washington's marine
waters can report their findings using a new toll-free phone number: (855) 542-3935.
Reports can also be filed on WDFW's website at
http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/derelict/
or at the Northwest Straits Conservation Initiative's website
www.derelictgear.org
and phone number (360) 428-1084. Derelict fishing gear entangles birds, fish and marine
mammals.
Climate change
Climate Impacts Group Releases New Western U.S. Climate Dataset for Natural Resource Management and Planning
The "Regional Climate and Hydrologic Change in the Northern U.S. Rockies and PNW" dataset provides an internally consistent set of historical (1916-2006) and future (2040s, 2080s) downscaled climate and hydrologic data and projections. Applications for the climate datasets include developing adaptation strategies, vulnerability assessments, climate impacts assessments, and specific resource modeling at landscape scales.

Birds and biodiversity
Now Available: Prairie Landowner Guide for Western Washington
Provides background information on prairies in western WA, and a brief field guide of prairie soils, plants and animals. Includes step-by-step directions on how to plan and implement prairie restoration on both residential and working lands, native plant suppliers, weed control options, funding and incentive programs, and more. The project was led by The Nature Conservancy in conjunction with key partners.

2011 Salmon Recovery Conference—presentations online
The conference was held April 26-27, 2011, Grand Mound WA. Presentations include 4 on large-scale river delta restoration (including several supported by NAWCA and National Coastal Wetlands grants), and many other important restoration, monitoring, outreach and partnership topics.
